When Jesse visited us for the first time he made us all smile with his kindness, and shared how he also loved to smile but now wasn’t confident to do it since he started grinding his teeth down and he couldn’t recognize himself and his smile anymore.
Common causes of teeth grinding (bruxism) include stress, anxiety, sleep disorders like sleep apnea, certain lifestyle choices and some medications. Nutritional deficiencies, misaligned teeth, and other medical conditions can also contribute to teeth grinding in both adults and children.
Consequences of bruxism are mainly the loss of teeth structure which changes form and function. In this case we had lost so much tooth structure that teeth appeared square and too small, patient felt his bite off, started to have hypersensitivity due to nerve proximity and had muscle soreness when chewing with some TMJ symptoms too.
Jesse found us and got his hope back, no more quick fixes for just a few teeth and dead ends.
Addressing the cause of the problem and the consequences with a fuel mouth rehabilitation bringing function and esthetics back is our treatment of choice.
On our consult we talked about his dental history, previous treatments and experiences, no one ever explained to him, the consequences of
Bruxism in the different aspects, the reason for Constant muscle soreness and teeth grinding, compromised his ability to chew and lost his confidence when smiling.
We needed a long lasting solution a full mouth rehab is the way to bring back the lost structure, teeth anatomy necessary for chewing, adequate teeth hight for TMJ comfort and adequate teeth size for esthetics.
Aided with botox TMJ therapy and strong zirconia restorations to help reprogram his muscle activity so with his strong bite and powerful facial muscles, he won’t grind his new teeth when getting used to them.
With the help of our skilled lab technician we virtually designed a prototype of his new dentition, bringing back the lost height of our posterior teeth giving us room at the front for the bigger beautiful teeth he always wanted. With full mouth rehabilitations the patients also get to decide their new teeth color and play with temporary sets before deciding on a shade.
The process is seamless and quick. In his case everything was done in 4 appointments, two of them done under moderate sedation for our patients comfort to prep his upper and lower teeth for full coverage zirconia restorations, scanning our prepped teeth at the end to merge with our virtual design and print a set of beautiful temporary teeth on the same day for the patient to start getting used to the new shape and size. He loved them from day one and in fact he realized he even want them a little bigger which is the best part of this phase and one of the wonders of our technology and digitally assisted dentistry.
Front teeth were redesigned and he loved the results, a new set of temporary teeth was printed so he could see the final results and approve for finals.
Using our in-house dental lab, we milled and delivered his permanent zirconia crowns— strong, metal-free, and natural looking new smile. Individual crowns, perfectly adapted, easy to clean and floss just like his natural teeth.
He was super happy even in the temporary phase and when he received his new final smile, he was over the moon. Not only he was smiling nonstop on disbelief but most importantly he was pain free, his bite felt comfortable, his jaw was in the right position and he was not grinding as much anymore.
Last but definitely not least we scanned our final restorations in the mouth and his new bite to make a customized night guard to prevent grinding and protect his crowns.
Jesse won’t stop smiling now, he has the teeth he always wanted and he’s not grinding anymore. He believes now this was the best choice he’s made for himself and appreciate that our care exceeded his expectations and we are forever grateful for those words and his trust.
Full mouth rehabilitations are transformative in many ways and I loved to be part of Jesse’s journey.
Thankful for our team at dream dental that made this big process possible in a flawless way.
